Fire Fighting Systems
Wet Pipe Sprinklers System
Wet pipe sprinkler systems are the most common. In this system the sprinkler piping is constantly filled with water. When the temperature at the ceiling gets hot enough the glass bulb or fusible link in a sprinkler will break.
Dry Pipe Sprinklers System
Dry pipe sprinkler systems are filled with pressurized air or nitrogen instead of water to prevent frozen and burst sprinkler pipes in areas with colder temperatures. The pressurized air in the sprinkler pipes prevents water from entering the pipes.
Deluge System
The primary purpose of deluge sprinkler systems is to provide copious amount of water to cool and extinguish large-scale fires. By flooding the entire protected area with water, deluge systems are particularly effective at rapidly cooling down fires, preventing their spread, and allowing occupants to evacuate safely.
Pre-Action System
Pre-action fire sprinkler systems employ the basic concept of a dry pipe system in that water is not normally contained within the pipes. The difference, however, is that water is held from piping by an electrically operated valve, known as a pre-action valve.
Standpipe and Hose Systems
Standpipe and hose systems are required by building and fire codes for certain occupancies based on the size, use and height of the building. They are a series of pipes and valves strategically located that provide suppression water for use by trained occupants or the fire department.
Fire Pumps Sets
Fire pumps are essential components of a building’s fire protection system, especially in high-rise structures. In buildings with levels from 400-500 ft. and higher, fire pumps are critical in distributing water through sprinkler systems where water pressure from water mains and fire fighting equipment cannot reach.
